October 27th: The Clean Campaign Act's 'fair notice' period begins (Oct. 27th-Nov. 6th)

The 2007 “Clean Campaign Act” requires that candidates and committees provide opposing candidates with copies of new campaigns ads if the opposing candidate's image or name is referenced in ads in the 10 days prior to an election. The copies must be provided at the time the material is published, broadcast, disseminated, or otherwise made public. This law applies to print, digital, and broadcast campaign materials.

There are some exceptions to the "fair notice" period. If material has already been published or broadcast before October 27, 2018, or the material does not identify or mention the opposing candidate, the materials do not have to be shared with the opposing candidate.
